Where do you live?

How old are you?

I am 21 years old

What are you studying and what year are you in?

I am in 3rd year at the moment and I am studying Professional cookery and kitchen management

How long will you hold the title as brand ambassador?

I will hold the title until the end of my studies and longer if asked by IHS

Your profile (tell us about yourself) – where did you go to school, hobbies, interests, achievements?

I went to school at Vaal park Articon in the Free State and matriculated in 2014. My hobbies include reading any book I can find, spending time with my friends and relaxing on off days. I am most interested by different cooking methods and how I can improve upon myself in any way I can.

When and where did your passion for hospitality begin?

I found my passion for hospitality at a young age by seeing my parents cook and trying to help where ever I could.

Why did you choose to study at IHS?

I chose to study at IHS because they offered the best experience for the field I wanted to go into and the overall atmosphere at the campus seemed very friendly when I went for a open day.

What do you love most about IHS?

I love IHS a lot, the lecturers always make the classes fun and enjoyable, and the people I have met at the campus have always made it enjoyable to be there. What does being a brand ambassador mean to you? Being a brand ambassador means that I should always try to uphold the name and image of the school at all times as well as helping anyone who has questions about the school.

How were you chosen at brand ambassador?

I was approached because I had won a bursary at IHS to study a full three years.

When were you officially appointed as brand ambassador?

I was officially appointed as a brand ambassador in my first year.

Where do you see yourself in 2, 5, and 10 years’ time?

I see myself building more knowledge in the culinary field and forming a reputation as a hard worker as well as someone who is determined. Has working in the hospitality industry been different from how you imagined? It is not much different than what I thought, because I am lucky enough to have a father that has been in the hospitality industry.

Any advice for young people considering hospitality?

It is a difficult industry and you might not always be appreciated for the work you do, but with enough determination and commitment it will reward you with very interesting people and exciting experiences

What is your motto in life? Hard work will always pay off.

What has been your most memorable moment working in the hospitality industry? It is very hard to choose one moment but the one that sticks out the most was doing my practicals at a banquet kitchen and seeing how the kitchen worked like a well-oiled machine when it came down to the wire
